Bradley C. McKenzie, P.E.

President

Mr. McKenzie is the founder and president of McKenzie Engineering Group, Inc. (MEG). Mr. McKenzie established McKenzie Engineering Group, Inc. (MEG) in 1994. Mr. McKenzie has been a Consulting Engineer since 1983. He has over 30 years of experience in the design and construction management of civil and environmental engineering for residential, commercial and public works projects throughout the New England States. Mr. McKenzie has considerable experience in land planning, preparing engineering feasibility studies, contract plans and specifications and providing construction administration for an array of multi-million dollar public and private projects. He has been responsible for the management of all aspects of the civil/site engineering for these projects from the feasibility through construction phases. Mr. McKenzie is an expert in the design and management of all aspects of civil infrastructure, including stormwater management, utility, roadway, water distribution and wastewater collection and treatment systems.

Mr. McKenzie has designed and managed projects from $50,000 to $10 million in site costs and has acted a team leader on site improvement and master planning projects, coordinating architects, landscape architects, traffic engineers from design inception and project permitting though construction phases. He has considerable experience in project permitting and presentation to local authorities, which has enabled MEG’s projects to move on from the entitlement process through construction. Mr. McKenzie’s proficiency with regulations and innovative design solutions enable MEG’s clients to maximize their investments by obtaining timely approvals and providing value engineering. His extensive construction management experience has resulted in smooth implementation for his client’s projects.

Austin J. Chartier, P.E., LEED AP

Project Manager

Mr. Chartier is a Project Manager with McKenzie Engineering Group, Inc. (MEG) with over ten years of civil engineering experience providing clients with technical advice from field to finish. He has a substantial background in working on a wide variety of residential, recreational, institutional, commercial projects and large state and federally funded projects. Mr. Chartier has managed design teams to prepare feasibility studies and conceptual planning, permitting, design development, preparation of construction plans and specifications, and providing construction phase services, including administration of project bidding, construction oversight, inspection, and as-built documentation.   Mr. Charter has substantial experience in the design of site layout and materials, green infrastructure, grading, utility connections, stormwater management,  traffic signalization and corridor modeling, and traffic management/construction phasing plans. He is proficient in using all aspects of AutoCAD, including Civil 3D 2017 and Carlson 2021. Mr. Chartier provides engineering services to many clients, including architects, contractors, universities, municipalities, and municipal and state public works departments. He also represents his public and private clients at meetings, municipal public hearings, and design charrettes. He is familiar with all local, state, and federal regulations and design publications, including local municipalities’ Zoning Bylaws,  Planning Board Regulations, Wetlands Bylaws, Board of Health Regulations, Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD), Amerian Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO), American Disabilities Act (ADA), Massachusetts Architectural Access Board (AAB), MassDOT, Massachusetts Wetlands Protection Act, Massachusetts Sanitary Code Title 5 and Best Management Practices.

Mr. Chartier recently completed the ACEC Emerging Leader Course, which provides engineers with the soft skills and business development awareness critical for successful project management and business operation. He is OSHA 10 certified, Massachusetts Coastal Certified, and a LEED Green Associate.

Erik Schoumaker, P.E.

Project Engineer

Mr. Schoumaker is a Project Engineer with McKenzie Engineering Group, Inc. (MEG) with over five years of civil engineering experience designing and developing civil and environmental engineering projects ranging from feasibility studies and conceptual planning to final construction documents. He has managed and worked on design teams to assist clients with various tasks, including project planning, permitting, engineering plan production, cost estimating, stormwater and watershed analysis, preparation of construction documents, construction oversight, inspection, and as-built documentation. Mr. Schoumaker is proficient in AutoCAD, HydroCAD, and Carlson 2021 software. He provides engineering services to many clients, including architects, contractors, universities, municipalities, and municipal and state public works departments. He also represents his public and private clients at meetings, municipal public hearings, and design charrettes. Susan B. Spratt, P.E.

Senior Project Manager

Ms. Spratt is a Senior Project Manager with McKenzie Engineering Group, Inc. (MEG) and has over 25 years of experience in the design and development of all types of civil projects for public and private clients.    Ms. Spratt is responsible for the direction of personnel and management of all aspects of civil engineering projects from the preparation of feasibility studies and conceptual design through the completion of the construction process.  She has extensive experience in the design, management, and implementation of civil engineering projects involving due diligence & feasibility studies, stormwater management & detailed drainage analysis reports, construction plans, and presentation of projects to approving authorities for project permits at the local and state level for various residential and commercial projects throughout Massachusetts.

Ms. Spratt’s areas of expertise are providing peer review services for municipal boards and agencies and the design and management of roadway, highway, and transportation-related projects including roadway reconstruction projects and intersection improvement projects.   Her responsibilities have included performing technical reviews, geometric roadway design, grading, stormwater system design, and preparation of contract documents, including plans, profiles, sections, specifications, and construction cost estimates.  Ms. Spratt is proficient in using the latest computer-aided drafting and modeling software and is thoroughly familiar with local, state, and federal regulations and permitting processes including the Mass. Zoning Act, Mass. Subdivision Control Law, Mass. Wetlands Protection Act & Regulations,  AASHTO, and Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) design procedures and practices.

Richard J. Hood, P.L.S.

Director of Land Surveying

Mr. Hood is responsible for managing all survey activities for company projects from the project inception through the completion of construction.  He is responsible for scheduling staff, preparing proposals and project budgeting, client interaction, and construction phase oversight.  With over 40 years in the profession, Mr. Hood has considerable experience in land development projects including roadway and site design, residential subdivisions, municipal, commercial and coastal development site plans. In addition, he has had personal responsibility for a myriad of boundary surveys for title insurance (ALTA/NSPS), property line disputes, and cadastral surveys.

Mr. Hood’s technical proficiency with computer applications enables McKenzie Engineering Group to provide more efficient surveys with a quicker turn-around time resulting in cost-saving measures for our clients. Prior to joining McKenzie Engineering Group, Inc. (MEG), Mr. Hood was President of Hood Survey Group, LLC where he had overall responsibility for all operations, including project management, computer network administration, and staff training and development.  He brings his vast experience and expertise to the MEG team which offers complete land surveying, civil engineering, land planning, and permitting services.
