Rockland Ice Rink
Rockland, MA
Project Overview
MEG was responsible for all aspects of civil/site design and permitting for the redevelopment of the existing ice-skating rink complex located at 599 Summer Street in Rockland, Massachusetts. The project design included the development of undisturbed portions of the site to construct an additional ice skating rink with associated site improvements including the expansion of the parking area and an upgrade to the utility and stormwater management systems. The design also involved a reconfiguration of the site access and existing parking lot. The project required the alteration of approximately 3,700 s.f. of bordering vegetated wetland (BVW) resource area and approximately 1,600 s.f. of 100-year floodplain, or bordering land subject to flooding (BLSF) resource area. The design included the provision of a wetland replication area in a 1:1 ratio and incremental compensatory flood storage to comply with the Massachusetts Wetlands Protection Act Regulations (310 CMR 10.00). The stormwater management system was designed to fully comply with local regulations and the Department of Environmental Protection’s (DEP’s) Stormwater Management Regulations.
