65 Grove Street
Watertown, MA
Project Overview
Cresset Grove, LLC retained MEG to prepare civil/site design documents to facilitate the permitting and construction for the redevelopment of this approximate 3.5 acre site located at 65 Grove Street in Watertown, Massachusetts. The proposed development will consist of the redevelopment of the existing 118,000 square ft. building, construction of a 25,000 square ft. multi-story parking structure, surface parking and landscaping areas, utility connections and stormwater management systems. MEG was responsible for all phases of the project, from initial feasibility studies to final construction documents. MEG also worked closely with the Town and the abutting Atrium School to reconfigure curb cuts on Grove and Crawford Streets and integrate the school access and egress into the design plan to encourage a safer and more convenient access and site circulation for both sites. MEG designed a series of subsurface stormwater infiltration chambers and incorporated sustainable (low-impact development) stormwater features on the which will serve to reduce the sites dependence on proprietary subsurface stormwater systems and will utilize vegetation, enhanced soil media and other “natural” site features to help renovate and mitigate stormwater runoff from impervious surfaces. The project also required a special permit and site plan approval under the Watertown Zoning Ordinance and compliance with the DEP Stormwater Management Regulations and local requirements. MEG is currently providing construction administration services to ensure that the final product is consistent with permit approvals and the value engineered design.
